Question on blue ink transfers
I do not have any AL players in my bat collection - yet. I have noticed that many AL player bats have some blue ink transfers on the bat, depending on use of coursr, and that these are mostly modern player bats (last 10-15 years or so).
A newbie question - When did the OAL ball start having blue ink? I am considering buying a bat from the late 80s, and although the use appears to be strong, there are not any blue ink transfers on the bat.
Thanks in advance fellaslooking for Phillies GU bats

Re: Question on blue ink transfers
The OAL balls had blue ink from the mid-'70's (MacPhail era) until 2000 when they switched to OML balls (darker blue ink).

Re: Question on blue ink transfers
Thanks Marcus - would it be safe to say that there are bats out there with legit AL game use w/o blue ink transfers?

Re: Question on blue ink transfers
Absolutely. I have many bats from that era that are hammered with use, but no ink transfer.
