say something interesting at twins/yankees game

I was at the yankees vs twins playoff game #1 wednesday night. And after the first pitch the umpire took the ball out of play and gave it to someone sitting in the camera box.Was that a person from mlb to put a sticker on it and sell it as first pitch.I could not see what the person did with it.Anyone know for sure.Because in tonights game #2 the umpire did not do that.

It looked as if he said something to Mauer and Jeter about getting the ball before the pitch. I imagine Jeter said,"What if I hit it out?" Then after the pitch he said,"I let that one go for you." I probably had everything to do with the first postseason pitch at Target Field

I am sure it went to Clyde the Twins Curator. It will probably be put on display with all of the other memorabilia the Twins have at the field.
