Need an experts opinion
based on the two pictures below, are the taggings consistent with 1989 Yankee game used jerseys?
from wilson Yankees game jerseys that I've seen that date back to the late 80's/early 90's , there was always an extra number stitched next to the year, like 1 or 2 indicated the set
I find it odd that this jersey is missing that extra number. Any expert opinions on this would be greatly appreciated

The Wilson tagging is good for that year. But the strip tag is no good. You are corrrect that there should be a set number as well. But the major issue with that strip tag is that the font used there was last used in 1987. In 1988 (and until 1992, after which the Yankees switched to Russell), the font used to stitch the strip tags was different. If this had been a jersey from 1987 or before and the strip tag reflected that year, it would be very hard to shoot down this jersey other than for the missing set number, as the font match is remarkably good.

See this thread for what the changed font looked like from 88-92. Its a pair of pants but the font was the same on the jerseys.
