Help with an older Chiefs helmet

Does this look like a legit gamer? Anything I should see specifically? Thanks for any help!

I am no expert but either some one had done this up to look like a gamer because that looks like a vintage retail display model. I do not think these are meant for games. If they are my bad.

The helmet looks just like the Rawlings NFL helmets that used to be featured in the Sears and JCPenney Christmas catalogs from the early 1970s to the early 1980s. The back stamp looks like a Youth M, and the interior padding, except for the jawpads, are the same as the youth NFL helmets from that era. I own a New England Patriots Rawlings helmet from that time period (1976) that is virtually identical to what you've pictured.

Are there any holes in the shell hidden by the chinstrap? If so, then the helmet has been customized by removal of the factory two-bar plastic mask.

Looks as if the jawpads have been custom added, and an additional chinstrap snap was added to the rear of the helmet....

I would say no to NFL game used but perhaps to youth league game used. These Rawlings helmets added the front Rawlings bumper about 1981 or so, and since this one does not have it, I'd say it was from the mid-to-late 1970s.

Thanks! I don't think the person was trying to sell me a bad helmet, he probably got it that way thinking it was a real game helmet. This is why the forum is so great!

It is my opinion that this is very likely not a legit gamer, but rather a Rawlings Youth-sized NFL replica helmet that has been customized with replacement jaw pads and an NFL-style white mask and facemask clips. It looks very nice, but I don't think it is a legit gamer.
