    I assume you mean camera?

When it comes to the pros, if they use Nikon, they use either the Nikon D3, D3s, or D3x

If they use Canon, then you typically see them using the Canon 5D Mark II or 5D Mark III

Close Kyle.... 5D Mark II is not the best for sports, the frame rate is not real high like 3.9fps. 7D is a good prosumer level camera for sports and has a crop factor that helps get extra telephoto reach. The 1D series is the Pro level. The Canon 1D Mark IV or the 1Ds Mark III are the cream of the crop, but run about 4k and 6k. They're off the charts with 10fps.

I have the Canon 5D but I prefer the 60D for sports due to the crop factor and the higher frames per second. The 5D2 runs $2500 and the 60D is about $1250. But the 5D is better for portraits and landscapes.

geez that frame rate sucks. I didn't know it was that low. I only shoot Nikon, so I don't really know too much with Canon. The guys who shoot at Turner Field only use Nikon too. They have pretty nice lenses to go with them as well. If only photography was a cheap hobby...

Yeah, 5D is not designed for sports action at all. Being full frame, it's incredible for landscape and portrait.

I hear ya.... luckily I got a good deal on a refurbished body and I buy all my lenses gently used or factory refurbished. Saves about 25-40% off of new retail prices and they are indistinguishable from brand new.

    I assume you mean 1D.

The 1D Mark IIN, 1D Mark III, and 1D Mark IV are the best, the Mark III and Mark IV being by far better.

Also, in addition to buying a decent camera (high end amateur type, I have a Nikon D90) be sure to budget $$$ for an excellent zoom lens.

Agreed! All my lenses are used and my camera was purchased refurbished. It saved me around a grand.

What camera do you currently have, Kyle? Did you upgrade from the Nikon D90? I use the D300S.
