Vintage Sweater Help!

Does anyone have an idea what team this is?
I've searched all over the internet and haven't found any info on it

Looks like a Varsity Sweater from either High School or College.

Willard "Bill" Sherman? Played for St Mary's College in the late 40s early 50s... not sure... just a thought of something to look at.

Year or jersey #?

It looks like it could be from Cal-Berkeley as well based on the colors and the "C" patch. I'm guessing the 77 would have to be the players number.

Looked through the Cal football media guide and there were no William/Bill Sherman's on their all-time roster so not sure.

What does the patch on the shoulder say??

Its a patch of his name "BILL"

No problem. My only other guess is it could be a rugby sweater. I've seen current Cal rugby players wear similar sweaters so it could be an older style one. I'll keep looking around.
