    Unhappy Ryne Duren---RIP

Ryne Duren, the fireballing reliever best known for his seasons with the Yankees (1958-61 ) died at his Florida winter home Thursday. He was 81.

Duren was known for several things: his flaming fastballs, his lack of control, and being the person HoFer Ryne Sandberg was named after. His biggest foe was alcohol, which he overcame after retirement and wrote a book about his journey eight years ago.

In addition to the Yankkes, he pitched for Baltimore (1 game, 1954); Kansas City (1957); the Angels (1961-62), Philadelphia (1963-64, 1965), Cincinnati (1964) and Washington (1965)
