Anyone know anything about Ryne Sandberg bats?
Many months ago I purchased several bats from someone that said the bats came from the (large) memorabilia collection of a relative who had passed.
All of the other bats showed game use and proper characteristics for the players that used them. This was the only one I really couldn't find any information about.
The top half of the bat seems like it might be coated in some sort of "gloss" (you can kind of see what I'm talking about in the first photo). Is it possible the original owner somehow coated it to preserve the autograph? Was the bat modified by Sandberg or were these bats commonly manufactured like that?
Perhaps it's a signed retail bat given to her? IDK? If anyone know anything about his bats like what year it may have been issued or any other info I'd appreciate it. Thanks!

Looks to be a player-issued 1987 Rawlings/Adirondack Ryno bat. The knob and barrel top employ a marking style consistent with Cubs game bats of the era.

There's nothing wrong with the coating it was put on there by Rawlings and not the original owner. It's a bat Ryne would have used in a MLB game. Still a real nice bat!!

I agree with Dave, definately a game issued bat. Doesnt look to show any use but Sandberg definately ordered this bat.

Re: Anyone know anything about Ryne Sandberg bats?
Thank you guys very much for the info. I really appreciate it! I try to learn as much as possible by searching around the forum to find my answers. I didn't find much when I originally looked and am glad I remembered to ask. You are awesome (and quick).
Yeah it really doesn't show much use. There are a few slight rack marks but only a couple of spots that look like it came in contact with a ball.
I actually did get one Gwynn bat. A Worth "Tennessee Thunder" that was signed/personalized from Gwynn to the previous owner. That one has a fair amount of use but I think maybe it was a "shared" bat or something because aside from having Tony's info on the top in marker there is also "Wei 34", "Wel 34", "Wcl 73" or something like that?

Does the number written on the barrel match the engraved number on the bat knob.? Worth bats normally had a model number that started with "WC". The Padres have also been known to hand-inscribe the model number on any bat barrel and/or knob where it isn't already printed during manufacture.

Ha! You know what I took a look and YOU have deciphered what those numbers/letters are without even having to see them. The Bat is stamped ""WC134C" on the nob so I suppose the writing is just a sloppy "WC134" on the barrel. I just figured It was another players initials and # or something like that. Once again.... you guys are awesome.
