Early Eddie Murray O's bat (w248)

Hi Brian,
I was given an Eddie Murray cracked bat as a kid along with Singleton,Bumbry and Lowenstien by the traveling bat boy in Oakland between 1978-81. I recently took the bat for Murray to sign it at a show and he felt the need to authenticate it. He said it was not his model. I just want to know if records indicate he did order a w248 LS HB (color of bat same as his 1979 card). I wasn't going to argue with one of my favorite players, though I knew I was right.

Hi Jeff---

It sounds like Murray was just being disagreeable that day, as his documented records are full of W248 orders during the 1977-79 label period . There are approximately 18 different orders between 2/22/77 and 6/18/79 totalling approximately 270 bats, all with Hornsby Finish with the exception of 18 bats with a Walker finish.
