    Some pics from Basketball HOF

Took some pics at HOF in Springfield, had quite a few gamers on display. See if these pics work. ...Will post more later.

Interesting tagging on Magic All star jersey. Did every player have name on them?

    Thanks for posting the pics.

Do you have any other pics of that Erving Converse shoe? That looks like a retail shoe to me.

Back in 1970/71 there weren't that many models of shoes; even the handful of colleges and universities that might have gotten them directly from the manufacturer (or more precisely a manufacturer's sales rep) would only get a retail shoe customized in the schools color - so for UMass in Dr. J's time they could get Converse All Stars with maroon trim instead of settling on the regular red you could buy at the local store.

I think Otis wants to see a engraved DRJ. stamp, that would be appropriate to a mid 80s Converse Game worn NBA shoe. I forget the model name, but it's a circa 1984.

Don't forget the McHale suede Adidas in the Hall. I'm sure this forum proved they weren't as described.

These would look better with the Doc display:

Below is the tagging on my 1994 J.R. Rider Rookie Game jersey. Champion must have done this type of tagging for at least a few years in the early to mid 90s on their All-Star weekend jerseys.

I just assumed since those shoes were with Dr. J's UMass jersey that they were supposed to be his UMass shoes, not his ABA or NBA shoes.

One of these days I'm going to have to make it to the Basketball Hall of Fame; I've only done the Football Hall in Canton.

Damn - forgot you can't edit posts on this board.

Now that I've posted this was Converse even making leather All Stars like that as early as 1970/71? I know that Kentucky was wearing this style (with blue trim of course ) by 1973/74 - if not 1972/73.

Doc wore canvas Chucks at UMass.

The Startechs that BTPH posted are what Erving wore in 84-85 & 85-86. The display Startech looked like an unused retail shoe to me, so I emailed the HOF just for fun. They said it was an unworn shoe, that was part of the donation.

You can see the differences between it and the shoes BTPH posted. Those shoes were recently sold on eBay by Gotta Have It.
