    Unhappy Goossen and Jacobs obituaries.

Greg Goossen, a member of the only Seattle Pilots team to take the field, has died at age 65. His passing was on February 26th.

Goossen was part of the 1969 Seattle Pilots, and moved to Milwaukee with them, playing for the Brewers for part of the 1970 season, finishing that campaign with Washington.

His first four seasons (1965-68) were spent with the Mets.

Forrest "Spook" Jacobs, a regular on the last Philadelphia A's team, died on February 18. He was 85.

Jacobs was the regular 2nd baseman for that final Philly squad. He went with the team to Kansas City, becoming a utility player. He spent all of 1955 and part of 1956 with the A's, finishing 1956 with Pittsburgh.

    Thanks, gingi.

Truthfully, I only recall one criticism of my obits, and it came from a forum member who appears to just dislike me period, although he never addresses his problems with me when I call him out on it, publicly or privately. His problem, not mine.

interesting sidelight about Goosen was that he was often used as a stand in for actor Gene Hackman and had numerous bit parts in the movies...

actually, I think the quote was more along the lines of "he's 20 now and in 10 years, I think he has a good chance to be 30"

Spook ran a donut shop for many years in Milton, DE. His son, Bobby, began a fabulous high school basketball tournament in Rehoboth Beach, DE after watching an Atlantic Ten Tournament doubledip at the Palestra. Bobby specialized in getting junior-laden teams and brought in Lebron, the Collins twins, the Stewart twins, and Dwight Howard at various times. Unfortunately, Bobby ran off with some money -- I think because of a gambling program -- and the "Beach Ball Classic" quickly died.
