    BMH Pepper Martin- 1929/30

    Brian,

What size bat was Pepper Martin ordering in 1929/1930? Do you have any records of that? Also, can you tell me what was the first year of his own model? thanks as always!

The existing ordering records and toolroom records for Pepper Martin suggest that the most characteristic length for bats ordered for his personal professional use were 35 inches in length and commonly around 34 ounces in weight. The model commonly associated with Martin, Model M99, was originally "His 10-11-1930" and was made off of a Joe Brown 4-9-1927 Model. That bat was indexed at 35 inches in length. The records also indicate lesser use of a 34 inch bat.
