    Obituaries: Two 1940's one-year Major Leaguers

    Len Gilmore, whose MLB career consisted of one game, died February 18 at age 93.
    Gilmore started for the Bucs on October 1, throwing a complete game, but losing with a line total of 7 runs and 13 hits.

    Scott Cary, who pitched in 1947 with the original Washington Senators, died at age 87 on February 28.
    Cary went to the mound in 28 games for the Nats that year,mostly in relief, with a 3-1 record but a high 5.93 ERA.
