    Washed vs. Unwashed

Just curious for some opinions as to whether a football jersey being washed affects its value?

    Re: Washed vs. Unwashed

I would definitely say that an unwashed jersey with stains, marks, etc has more value than one that has been washed. How much that actually affects the value is probably dependent upon the player (rarity) and how much use the jersey shows (unwashed). I personally paid more for a jersey than it was probably worth because it was unwashed and showed great use. Hope that helps.

I am a newer collector so i don't really know but it seems hard to find older jerseys unwashed. It seems like it is a newer thing in the hobby to have. I personally like mine unwashed and dirty as can be just b/c they look cooler.

    Re: Washed vs. Unwashed

In the case of my 2005 Urlacher alternate, which was laundered by the team but still has enough staining to photomatch, it probably amounts to $1000+ difference in what I could get for it at auction.
Had it remained unwashed, the sky's the limit.
