Unhappy Sabres star passes away at age 59

Sabres fans and team personnel were stunned and saddened by the death this past weekend of 1970s Sabres star Rick Martin.

Martin played in the NHL from 1971-72 through 1980-81, with all but four of those games being in the blue and yellow of the Sabres (the other four games were after a trade to the Kings during his final season). He's best remembered as a part of the high scoring French Connection line.

Per The Buffalo News..."Sabres legend, 59, died of hypertensive arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease — progressive and prolonged hardening of arteries."
    Cheers,

The "french connection" were highly respected in Quebec, its a shame to lose one of them !
