Padres 1978 white question.
Anyone know of any white GU padres jersey from that year that did not have the All star patch sewn on it? Did they wear these white jersey in spring training and if so did they have the AS patch on there in spring training? Could it be that a player wore a jersey that never had the AS patch?
Is the San diego above the Padres on the front logo black or brown?
Does anyone have pictures of one of these jersey?
Did the manufacturer make these available to the public with number and year tag affixed to the front?
Thanks

Re: Padres 1978 white question.
The only way I could see a 1978 Padres jersey never having had a ASG pqtch is it were a previously unused jersey issued to a newcomer or prospect in 1979 spring training, Back then, a team normally wore the previous year's uniforms in a given year's spring training.
The SAN DIEGO is brown.
Wilson did not merchandise these in a retail manner with the strip tag added.
Finding an all-original example, however, is incredibly difficult. The majority of these were recycled to their minor league farm clubs (common practice in those days). These were bought in bulk by Wane Otto (Pro-Am Sports) over 20 years ago with nearly all of them missing the tiny SAN DIEGO, the ASG patch, and the names on back. Those elements, if present on a 1978 jersey, would more than likely be restored.
Hope this helps.
