Edgar martinez bat in Gery Flannel

I was looking at the Edgar Martinez bat in Grey Flannel lot 942 and saw the knob blackened at. Anyone know why that would be. Maybe B.P. bat? Not sure why that would be. Any thoughts?

BP or to cover another player's number, since used by them most likely

I have many Edgar's in my collection and throughout the years of his career. To me this dosen't seem like his "normal" bat traits. In my opinion I would say a BP bat, spring trainning or used by another player. I would say this is a 50/50 chance. Check out MIll Creek sports as I know they have atleast 3 for sale all are which very nice.
