    Players wearing unexpected uniform styles

This picture was just listed on eBay through the Topps Vault. It shows Padres all-star catcher Benito Santiago wearing a uniform style he supposedly never wore! By the time he was called up by the Padres in late 1986, they had already ditched the yellow color and were using their brown and white uniforms. This pic was apparently taken during spring training in 1984, and is kinda cool if you're a uniform nerd!!!

Cool Re: Players wearing unexpected uniform styles

I remember actually owning a 1984 Padres road unused gamer of Ozzie Guillen (he was swapped to the White Sox over the 1984-85 offseason). He was issued #9 with the Pads.

I believe Benito was only 19 years old at the time. YOU try telling a teenager to keep their mouth shut!!!

Rod Carew as coach for the Brewers.

Rod Carew as ??? for the Indians. I found this on Getty Images and don't know what it is. It is labeled at being from the 1991 All-Star Game.

Here's two that surprised me the first time I saw them. Not full uniforms but Kobe in Boston for a pre-draft workout and Pippen coaching in LA.

Early 60s Raiders vs. 49ers. I think that's Hugh Mcelhenny on the far left. Who recognizes someone? No players identified in the photo. That seems like that's the Raiders inaugural style. 1960, no?

I thought I'd add these two pictures of two MLB veterans who went to Spring Training in 1989 with the Orioles & were eventually released (who wore ther 1988 uniforms, prior to unveiling their new ones on Opening Day):

Bob Horner (who I believe played in Japan the year prior):
