    Jerry Rice Helmet-$500????!!!!

I ran across this on eBay this evening. Seller says he has an LOA from Sports Warehouse. Why do they sound familiar--and why is nobody biting?

I see an opening bid of $500.00 - I would assume the seller is hoping for more than that. Many people often confuse an opening bid with an asking price. It they wanted $500.00 they would have used Buy-It-Now.

They are asking for a low or no final bid. Why the lack of pictures? Sure, they offer to email you more pictures, but why not just add them to the listing if the helmet has no issues?

Because only the first picture is free. It sounds crazy that someone would not post more pics over a couple of bucks but alot of people especially nonprofessional sellers are very cheap with setting up their listings trying to maximize their net at the end. The opening bid also is likely so low for that reason. The higher the bid the higher the listing fee. Alot of nonprofessional sellers dont like to do BIN because it takes time to sell stuff that way and alot of people are selling an item or two cause they need cash ASAP and just want to get what they can for the item. With BIN you can have an item up their for months. And as we all now best offer often just opens you up to alot of lowball insulting offers.

You can simply use the eBay free photo option, then add other photos to your description, via a hosting site like Photobucket. I only use the free one, so I can add the little thumbnail/preview. Then I can add as many others as I like...for free.

A few points - I forgot, eBay gives non-store owners a certain number of free listings (100?) each month where they only pay if the item sells. So store owners pay lower fees, but non-store owners can list for free at any starting price.

As for Make-An-Offer - There is an auto decline feature so you never have to see the low ball offers. Anyone who doesn't use this feature is just opening themselves up to be really pissed off. My phone lights up anytime I receive an offer through eBay iPhone App, so I make sure any offer I receive is reasonable so it doesn't bother me too often.

You are probably all right. I have found out that no matter how many pictures you post, potential buyers always ask for more, plus it allows for some further discussion.

The more discussions the better and if you post proper pictures no one will ever ask for more pictures.
