RIP: Ernie Johnson
Ernie Johnson Sr., a former Braves pitcher and broadcaster, died Friday at age 87.
Johnson pitched for 8 seasons for the Boston/Milwaukee Braves (1950, 1952-58). He was a member of both Milwaukee World Series teams. After that, he became a Braves announcer, working regularly until 1999.
Johnson pitched a ninth season for the Orioles in 1959 and was in camp with the 1960 Indians but was cut before the season.
The team will wear a memoriam patch in his honor for the remainder of 2011.
