    Hunt Auctions-Johnny Bench Bicentennial bat

This is in the Louisville Slugger Museum Live Auction (Item #505) - where to start....
It really does not even look close just in characteristics, even on a quick glance - the pine tar application is way off, as it should be fairly uniform from the handle bottom on up. This one looks like it maybe has some on upper handle only. The coloring on the bat looks off, like some of the other index bats from this year. But lastly, that mess on the knob - way too thick a marker, wrong writing style for Bench bats and most importantly anyone can see it is covering up either another number or other writing. Beyond the wrong characteristics, it does not match ordering records: the R43 model was ordered in 35.5" only that year, weight of 34. This one is apparently 34.75" and 32.5 oz. The R43 is also his pro stock model.
It seems like someone did not even try with this auction entry. I have a call into Hunt and waiting for a reply.

    Ben
