    Packers Super Bowl Ring

I have a few questions as I don't really deal in this area, but I have a buddy who knows a former Packers player who wants to sell his Super Bowl ring but is asking a ton. Are there any ring collectors that could give me a real value he can expect? Also, if he didn't want his name out there, where is a good place to sell? Thanks!

From what I've seen, prices vary. I'm sure it would depend on what Super Bowl it's from and what player it was issued to.

A 2004 Patriots ring was just on Pawn Stars and they bought it for around $22,000. It belonged to a player that was on the practice squad for most of the year and was activated for the playoffs. To qualify that, who knows if those prices are really what they paid, but that's supposedly what they paid for it.

What do you consider a "ton?"

He could consign it to one of the major auction houses like Robert Edward Auctions, Legendary Auctions, Lelands, Heritage. To name a few.

Clearly, now is the time to be selling Packers memorabilia. Better than if they were 4-8.

I add that the BBC had an article yesterday on the Packers (small market team does well) and, perhaps as expected, the BBC doesn't devote much attention to the NFL or MLB. Shows the Packers are hot right now.

It was from last year, he was definitely a contributing player and started some but not a high-profile name. Do auction houses need name of player? He said in the $40k range which I know is high, but want to be able to give him a realistic expectation to make his decision...

Aren't their names on the ring?

    $40K sounds high to me.

An auction house might not need to list the player's name and might agree not to do it. However, a player's ring is worth more than an a non-playing employee's ring, so it would important for it to be listed as a player's ring.

Not Dyrill, second person to say that so wanted to make sure that wasn't the player. I have seen photos where name is blocked out in photoshop but understand people may want to know. Thanks for the input. I know 40 is too high but didn't know if $25 was a range (patriots)? Taking in mind I spent less on our new car means I am never in these markets so really don't know them ... haha
