Bat orders

So I was looking through malta's LS book And noticed that Willie mays ordered over 150 bats in a single season many times. I'm shocked to see that amount. No way he could use 188. And they dont label them indexs or anything Mantle ordered around 750 his whole career from H&B.

I believe that Pete Rose ordered a similar number of bats each year, especially when one considers the bats he ordered bats from Adirondack as well as H&B.

When I asked Pete about this number of bats, he told me that looked over each dozen bats and selected approximately four for game use and gave the rest back to the equipment manager. Pete liked bats that had a wide grain.
