    NY Mets Ice Cream Caps

In 1997, the Mets introduced an alternate white cap, derisively called the "ice cream cap."

I know it was mocked roundly and not worn much. Anybody know about how many times they actually wore them? I am researching for a project.

    Thanks.

Believe it was worn only for the Jackie Robinson number retiring celebration, which either lasted one game or for the particular series the number was retired. I know they wore it for that celebration and that was a night game, and this photo was a day game so they must have worn it at least another game. This hat was scrapped early in the season, so my guess is that they wore it for the series in which they retired the number.
