Question for Baseball Uniform Experts
When the Mets started play in 1962, they had different jersey suppliers...Wilson on the road
and Spalding at home
Was this common back then? why would they have different suppliers. We do know through Uni Watch that the Mets made some last minute design changes.

Perhaps one supplier could not do both a home and a road in time? They kept two suppliers into the 1970s.
Any thoughts?

Re: Question for Baseball Uniform Experts
A team using different home and road uniform suppliers wasn't uncommon during the 1960s though I don't know why. Among the other dual supplied teams in the 1960s were the Expos, Pirates, Braves, Reds, Colt .45s/Astros, Dodgers, Padres, Giants, Orioles, Indians, Tigers, Yankees, Senators, Angels, White Sox, Twins, and Pilots. Some were for one or two years while others were for the entire decade or close to it, but it did happen.
