The last Posada bat ever used?????

I finally photomatched a bat that I got a few weeks ago. Photomatched to a Homerun against the Red Sox on 9/25/11 and used all the way until his last at bat in the ALDS against the Tigers. Other photomatch is the triple he hit in the playoffs (I think it was game 2). Steiner authenticated LVS with a ton of use and an absolute ridiculous amount of tar. Funny thing is the bat has a born on date of 5/4/11. Pretty exciting.

I know there was a knob dated October 2009 bat that he used in his last regular season at-bat in 2011 at Tampa as it was sold by Steiner and authenticated by MLB to that at-bat so he was using some oddly dated bats at the end of 2011.

Thanks guys. Carmelo and I were talking last week about how common it was to see a player use a bat much later in the season than the born on date and how common it was. I guess this proves that it doesn't matter when it was made.....

With that amount of pine tar on it and the massive use it's not surprising it was born in May! Nice bat. If he comes back it'll be the last "Yankee" Posada bat at least.

According to MLBtraderumors.com, Jorge will announce his retirement in the next two weeks. It looks like this bat is indeed the final one he EVER used as a major league baseball player. Pretty exciting piece to have in my collection!

The bat was amazing even before this rumor was reported, items like this make the gu hunt even more special. Great bat in the career of a yankee great.

Seeing the pine tar on the bat reminds me of the George Brett fiasco. What was the rule on that one? I thought the tar could not extend a certain number of inches up from the knob? Wouldn't this bat be illegal or did they change the rule?

I'm not a fan of unsigned bats by any means.....BUT, this bat looks amazing with all that tar and use. That said, it being his last bat or last Yankee bat is just an added bonus, great bat.
