    Two from the NBA Playoffs:

Lebron James, in the Cavs' Game 5 win against the Celtics, surpassed Michael Jordan as the highest career scorer in playoff history.

    --------------------------------------------

The upcoming Cavs-Warriors matchup in the NBA Finals marks the first time in league history that the same two teams have faced off in three consecutive Finals.

This year's Stanley Cup Finals will see a first. Never before in Finals history have both Finals coaches been Americans (Mike Sullivan of the Penguins and Peter Laviolette of the Predators). Not only that, but both men are natives of Massachusetts.

Jake Guentzel of the Penguins, in Game 2 of the Finals, set the rookie record of 19 playoff points in 1 year, passing Joe Mullen's old mark of 18 in 1982. GO, PENS!

With Clayton Kershaw of the Dodgers administering a punchout on Jonathan Villar of the Brewers Friday, he became the 2nd fastest pitcher to reach 2000 Ks in MLB history (277 games). The record is held by Randy Johnson (262 games).

Albert Pujols' 600th HR was an event unto itself, but another trivia nugget came out of it, as well. Albert's HR, a grand slam, was one of 7 grannies hit in Saturday's action, a new MLB record for a single day which obliterated the old record of 4. Also, 4 of the based-loaded knocks caused lead changes and 2, hit by Kyle Schwarber of the Cubs and Chris Taylor of the Dodgers, ended up being game winning hits.

Scooter Ginnett's 4-HR game earlier tonight was the first ever by a Cincinnati Reds player.

Another first from this game (courtesy of WGN Sports): It was the first time in MLB history that one player had 5 hits, 4 HR and 10 RBI in one game.

In Friday's Cavs win over the Warriors, Lebron James passed Michael Jordan to move into third place on the all-time NBA Finals scoring list. Still ahead of him: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar at #2, while #1 is Jerry West.
