Delmon Young charged with hate crime

I heard this report earlier and wonder to myself, where is the other 99% of the story.

It jumps from one thing to the next; a jewish panhandler, a group from Chicago, a tussle, NYPD thinking Young was intoxicated (enough to need hospitalization) but then unknown if he was....I'm suspecting that he told off the panhandler and the Chicago group was either Jewish and took offense, or started up some stuff about him having enough money to give...

Anyway, here is the info on what he was charged with. Notice that it involved both assaultive activity as well as threats. So it could have been as simple as him saying "I will kick your Jewish a$$".

§ 240.30 Aggravated harassment in the second degree.
A person is guilty of aggravated harassment in the second degree when,
with intent to harass, annoy, threaten or alarm another person, he or
she:
3. Strikes, shoves, kicks, or otherwise subjects another person to
physical contact, or attempts or threatens to do the same because of a
belief or perception regarding such person's race, color, national
origin, ancestry, gender, religion, religious practice, age, disability
or sexual orientation, regardless of whether the belief or perception is
correct;

Hate in general and anti-Semitism in particular have no place in professional sports.
