Authenticated Retail Johnny Bench Bat ?

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Johnny-Bench...item45ed7e600e

Probably a stupid question but why would anyone pay PSA/DNA to authenticate a retail bat?

Because it has the "Powerized" branding, I'm thinking that the person who submitted it thought it might be the real thing.... and since they paid for the authentication anyway, decided to go ahead and include the findings with the auction.

so you think they paid the full amount? so if it took them a minute to figure out that it was retail, psa/dna would still charge the customer the full amount. or is it a straight for a "quick check" like they do for autographs and then an added fee for the documentation of their findings.

it would be the full amount just the same as if it was a poorly forged autograph. If you read the letter, its not really authenticating it as a retail bat but rather the letter rejects it as a GU bat and it gives the reasons why. Yes we all could have done it here for free, but thats what happens.
