    MLB (ie:Team) Refusing to Authenticate?

I don't know if this was discussed previously. I trying to remember where I heard that there was an example of MLB threatening to not authenticate a significant item (ball) that a fan refused to give back to a player reaching a particular milestone. Was it the Yankees when Jeter was approaching 3,000? Did they throw it out there the week before, that that could be the case if anyone refused to "voluntarily" give it back?

yes it was discussed here before. While they cant make you give the ball back MLB wont authenticate things they arent keeping/selling.
