    Brewers Batting Helmet Question

    Hi All,

An auction has come up for something I am very keen on but I have a weird question.

EDIT - Feckit. I had a whole post written trying to hide the auction but it's too hard will have to take my chances!

This helmet: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...#ht_500wt_1414 is attributed to Trent Durrington.

    The MLB Holo says thus:

Durro wore #22 in 2004. The helmet shows use. The auto is his.

BUT... Trent is a right hand hitter, he has never hit left in his life. All pictures I have found have ear flaps for a RH hitter or both.

In 2003 the Brewers had 2 left hand batters on their roster that wore #22 - Jason Conti and Alex Sanchez.

Is this more likely an older helmet that was pulled out for the signing session and attributed to Durro because he was #22? Can Brewers fans tell me about the flag that is on it? Finally, does anyone have a Durrington hat with the size?

    THANKS!

    Mark.

depends on who reads, i see it as a game used helmet, not his, that was signed by him and then authenticated as being signed.

I could be wrong, but I thought the side US Flag decal was solely used post 09/11 (and off again in 2002).

Thats what I was afraid off. Hoping some Brewers collectors know more.

I have since found out that Durro was a switch hitter, at least thats what some scouting reports have said, however Baseball Reference has no record of him batting from the LH side at any point during his career. All bio's mention RH bat. Thinking I might pass on this.

NB - I even sent a Tweet to his nephew to see if he could find out!
