Ken Griffey Jr. GU Bat Question

I have a Ken Griffey Jr. game used bat signed and dated 1992 by Griffey. The bat handle is taped in the crisscross pattern and DOES NOT have the normal cupped barrel. Can someone tell me how many bats Griffey ordered without the cupped barrel? I have other Griffey bats, but this is the only one I have that is not cupped.

Re: Ken Griffey Jr. GU Bat Question

During the 1991-97 label period, the vast majority (95 % plus) of Jr's bats were cupped end. His characteristic bat was a black C271C, 34 inches 31 oz. However, Jr's H & B records document one round-end bat invoiced to BB Promotions with a specified weight (thus presumed to be for Griffey Jr's personal professional use) in 1991 (34 inches) and two orders of round end black C271 bats in 1992, totaling 36 bats. The telling point here is the length of those bats ---- those 36 bats were 34.5 inches / 31.5 oz / Black Finish. Generally speaking, uncupped Jr. bats from this period must be evaluated very critically.
