Collection advice

[Number13]

I am debating on selling my #13 collection and focus on the "SKI" collection. I enjoy the hunt more with the "SKI" jerseys than I do with the 13's. Thoughts? Opinions?

My advice? Do nothing with your 13's. Let the collection sit and focus on your SKI collection. Don't be in a rush to dispose of one aspect of your collection. In a couple of months, rethink the 13 collection.

My biggest advice to you is not to put all of your eggs in one basket. Add variety to your collection, even if you are focusing on one niche. I have a Jeff Bagwell collection, but I also have items from several players. That way, if one player busts or something happens, I have all of these other items.

I don't but gamewornjerseys.com has an Orioles Majewski #13. Just debating on shelling out 125 for it though.

i think your "ski" collection is interesting as it is about players with a Polish origin if that is your intrigue and have the same heritage. It would be cool to get a Greg Luzinski jersey somewhere along the way.

go with what interest you and if you need money to fund your main interest I would sell off the 13 jerseys.

My football game-used collection started with anyone from Hawaii. That got to be expensive so I narrowed down the focus of my collecting to those who played at the University of Hawaii. This was better for me since I've been going to to the games since 1971 and it was neat to have a jersey from a player I followed through college and who I saw play in person. I still have my other Hawaii player jerseys (those that didn't play at UH). I've traded several for jerseys I wanted for my current collection with no regrets.

Thanks for all the input from everyone so far. I'm leaning on selling off my 13's. I don't enjoy them anywhere as much as my SKI's. 13 has been a part of my life since the day I was born. From living at a house numbered 13 to wearing that number in sports my whole life. But, with the SKI's I find a ton more enjoyment in the hunt and also having them. I am of Polish decent and very proud of it. I also believe the SKI niche is far more unique of a collection than 13's.

Also, with having a bit narrower of a market, I would be able to spend a bit more on each the SKI's. I probably won't end up with nearly as much with the SKI collection as I would with the 13's , but they would have much more meaning for me.

Eric, We all go through phases and trends in our collection. I went through the number phase and collected any and every #34 jersey I could find. The problem was that there were just way way too many to keep up with and they sort of lost their special feel. I have also collected local teams and local kids from here.

My suggestion would be to just redirect your collection, but not worry so much about selling off the #13's unless you need to. Remember that those 13's are a big part of who you are as a person and a collector. Stay true to that and just move into the new direction to build on that.
