    Bob Welch Ebay Heritage Auction

    Hello,

Just wondering if any A's experts out there could tell me if this looks looks to be good!

I have a couple of other Welch jerseys without this type of year tagging.

    Thanks,

    Eric

i've seen 2 different styles of tagging on 1990 A's jerseys. the first is the standard rawlings manufacturers tag with the typical "set/year" flag tag. the second style is the manufacturer's tag with a strip tag that has the year and set. (when scoreboard released their 1990 canseco, they used the second style with the strip tag and read "2 90").

the welch jersey shows the second style with the strip tag. the welch strip tag also indicates a 2" customization. lelands auctioned off a 1990 dave stewart with this exact style of strip tagging:http://www.lelands.com/bid.aspx?lot=1924&auctionid=104

the strange thing is that i've only seen these type of strip tags used on A's jerseys from 1990 specifically. i've never seen strip tags on 1989 or 1991+ A's jerseys. not sure why 1990 was different.

in trying to determine the legitimacy of a style of tagging, i'd look at common player jerseys. kim stigall has had many A's jerseys from this time period and in going through them i found some common players with this style of strip tag so i assume it was legit. kim stigall currently has a 1990 welch world series game worn jersey.
