Pete Rose in heritage auctions
1981 Pete Rose Game Worn Philadelphia Phillies Jersey....
The tagging for this seems way off to me both name in collar and year tag.
Does not resemble any 1981 phillies gamer i have in my collection.
Wanted to get some others thoughts?

Re: Pete Rose in heritage auctions
What you've got here is a Whitey Willenborg Special, and not a gamer.
Whitey did some agent work for Pete Rose in the 1970s and became buddies with Mike Schmidt and Steve Carlton, as well, when all three were teammates on the Phillies. There are claims by some that Whitey's jerseys were worn in workouts, in the clubhouse, etc., but there are virtually no collectors in today's market who consider these game used or team-issued pieces.
The font variation in the NIC and tail tag are ways of spotting one of Whitey's productions. Also, the year and set will be separated by a hyphen (not done on Phillies knits of that era) and the Wilson tag may evidence removal from another item and a zig-zag stitch attachment to the jersey it's now on (Wilson used a straight stitch on its manufacturer tags in that era).
Home versions of these are even more obviously wrong, as, on those, the P and the numbers are two-tone with white bordering the burgundy characters...not characteristic of Phillies home gamers of that era.
All told, if offered as an autographed jersey, there would be some merit to it...but as a game-used or team-issued piece, thumbs down.

Re: Pete Rose in heritage auctions
Whitey in the early 80's had plenty of Rose jerseys for sale , he touted them as game used , I have personally saw him more than once pop the trunk of his Caddy and try to sell jerseys if my memory is correct they were $300.00 each ...............

For the record he spelled his name "Whitie".
