MLB game jerseys with special event patches

Is it common for players to wear jerseys with special event patches, such as Mother and Father's Day ribbons, and then remove them after the event and continue wearing the jersey later on in the season? Do any of you own jerseys like this?

Thanks Joel. Any reason why they do this? Why they continue to let the players wear these jerseys further into the season instead of selling them or auctioning them off for that one game when the ribbon is affixed?

Does it also devalue the jersey from a collecting standpoint that is it missing the ribbon patch?

The first of this that I recall was in the 1990s, when the Giants would designate a home game as an event for AIDS awareness, and wear red ribbons for what was called "Until There's A Cure Day". Outside of the Bay Area, though, the most publicity the practice got was a few years after the promotion when a relief pitcher who was a born-again Christian took the ribbon and re-positioned it on its side to replicate the Christian fish symbol.

Another reason this is very common is because the pink & blue ribbons they use are just embroidered patches with adhesive backing. They are not actually sewn onto the jerseys. They are just stickers that are stuck on the jerseys and then easily pulled off and removed. Jason Heyward from the Braves gave me his off of his jersey after the game a few years back.
