    Unhappy Zeke Upshaw

    A player for the Grand Rapids Drive in the NBA G League, Upshaw age 26, died on 3/25 a short time after collapsing on court during a game.

    Unhappy David Humm

    A 10-year NFL backup QB, Humm died at age 65 due to complications from Multiple Sclerosis.

    He began his career with the Oakland Raiders, an ended it with the team after they moved to Los Angeles. Sandwiched between is 2 stints with the silver and black were one year with the Bills and 2 with the Colts. In his time with the Raiders, he had more Super Bowl rings (2) than passes thrown.

    Unhappy Carl Schieb

    A RHP from 1943-54 (except for 1946), Schieb died 3/24 at age 91.

    Except for the final 3 games of his career (with the Cardinals), Schieb's entire career was spent as a member of the Philadelphia Athletics.

    Larry Miller, a LHP for 3 years in the NFL, died 3/21/18 at age 80.

    Miller pitched for the Dodgers in 1964, and with the Mets in 1965-66. He later was in the Orioles organization, but did not make it to the parent club.

    Hal Greer, the leading scorer in Nationals/76ers history, died after a brief illness on 4/14 at age 81.

    Greer spent 15 seasons with the Syracuse/Nationals/Philadelphia 76ers, and his #15 was retired by the 76ers in 1976.

    Len Okrie, a catcher who had brief stints with the Senators (1948, 1950-51) and Red Sox (1952), died 4/12 at age 94.

    Unhappy Ed Samcoff

    A 2B who played briefly for the Philadelphia A's in April 1951, Samcoff died on March 29 at age 93.

    Gil Santos, a radio announcer who broadcasted for 36 seasons with the Boston/New England Patriots, died at age 80.

    Santos first announced for the Patriots in their AFL days, working from 1966-80. After a hiatus, he returned to man the mike from 1991-2012.

    John Hope, a RHP who pitched briefly with the Pirates for each season from 1993-96, died on 4/18 at age 47.
