    Dave Nelson, a longtime 2B in The Show, and later a coach and announcer, died over the weekend at age 73.

    Nelson played for the Indians, Senators/Rangers and Royals, making the 1973 AL All-Star team while with Texas. He has been a radio announcer for the Milwaukee Brewers for the last decade.

    Two NFL obituaries:

    Lineman Dee Hardison. an 11-year NFL veteran who starred at North Carolina, died on 4/21 at age 61.

    Over his career (1978-89), he played for the Bills, Giants, Chargers and Chiefs.

    Former Steelers TE Bernie Cunningham, after a n illness, died this past weekend at age 63.

    Cunningham played for the Steelers after an outstanding career at Clemson.

    Kona Schwenke, a DL for Notre Dame. died on 4/22 at age 25.

    Playing for the Fighting Irish from 2010-2013, Schwenke signed with Kansas City as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He never appeared in a regular season, but was on the practice squads of the Chiefs and 4 other NFL teams in his time frame.

    Marv Rackley, a former Brooklyn Dodger, died on 4/24 at the age of 96.

    Rackley played for most of his brief career (1947-50) in Dodger blue, except for 11 games with the Pirates in 1949 and 5 appearances with the Reds in 1950.

    Carlos Gray an NC State alum who was drafted by Green Bay and played in 4 NFL preseason games in 2015, was found dead in his home on 4/30, the victim of gunshot wounds.

    Unhappy Bill Torrey

    An NHL executive with Florida, Torrey died on 5/2 at age 83. His mark on hockey was written in indelible ink with being the GM of the New York Islanders Stanley Cup dynasty, where the "other" New York NHL club won the Cup for 4 consecutive seasons.

    Ken Hottman, an OF who played in 6 games for the White Sox in September 1971, died on 4/16. He was 69.

    Unhappy Tom Fletcher

    A LHP who pitched in 1 game for the 1962 Tigers, Fletcher died on 5/9 at age 75.

    Unhappy Chuck Know

    A longtime NFL head coach, Knox died on 5/13 after a long battle with dementia. He was 86.

    Knox had two separate stints coaching the Rams, and also coached Buffalo and Seattle over his long career.
