I'm guessing that many people don't really understand photomatching yet.

    Bobby-

I consigned this particular Henderson to Vintage, and also provided them with information and an actual copy of Henderson wearing this STYLE of pre-game. The photo was available on Getty, and if you search HENDERSON 1982, you will find it-see below.

When I sent the shirt to Vintage, I provided a copy of the image and made reference to the fact that Henderson can be seen wearing this style in a Getty Image from 1982. Note their description reads, "This style was only worn by Oakland for a few years in the early 1980s and has been photo-matched to the 1982 season".

The intention to include this information about the photo match was allow collectors to see that this style was indeed worn in 1982-period. It is such an uncommon and rarely seen pre-game/batting practice, that any insight (in this case, a dated photo from 1982 showing Henderson wearing this STYLE) provided in the auction description may allow a collector to make a better informed decision.

Regardless of the item description, the jersey is an extremely difficult style Oakland pre-game and will make a fantastic aditon to any Henderson or A's collection.

    Sorry for any confusion.

    hi howard,

i just wanted to make sure that i wasn't clearly missing something. i suspected it was a style match, not a photo match. at any rate, here are a couple of photos of this rare style of '82 A's BP:

This is an interesting topic. I happen to own one of those BP jerseys and recently identified a point of interest. First off, the the link provided in this thread regarding an auction of the RH BP jersey doesn't indicate who the maker is? Regarding my point of interest, I recently saw that a similare BP style jersey for Billy Martin. This particular jersey was consistient with other jerseys of this style, however this jersey has a numbered size flag tag, whereas other jerseys of this style, which are made by ALPHA Sportswear, have a lettered size flag tag (XL).

The first two are of the BM jersey, the third is what I have.

Again, the auction houses confused "photo match" and "style match". There is no way one can definitively say that the jersey Rickey is wearing in that MLB Archives photo is the one that VA is offering for sale.

Same auction - Lot 29, another Canseco Home Set 2 90 autographed, authenticated by Lou Lampson. I'm safe to assume this is yet another scoreboard jersey being passed as a gamer?

i'd say it's a safe assumption. if memory serves me correctly, VA had a "2 90" canseco in their last auction or one prior to it. i emailed steve about it and never received a reply. at any rate, if the VA one doesn't strike your fancy, there's another "2 90" canseco on the current leland's auction:

    http://www.lelands.com/bid.aspx?lot=672&auctionid=611

much like the 89 bo jacksons, these "2 90" cansecos are everywhere.
