Re: Vintage Basketball Question
This was my first post on the GU Forum and now I'll use my 100th post to throw it back out there. In the past 4 years, I have come across one program of the old NY Americans team but no pics. Any b-ball historians out there?

Re: Vintage Basketball Question
Bringing this one back up again.
I still haven't been able to find any pics of the New York Americans that played in ABL during WWII. The BBHOF and APBR didn't have anything for me (more accurately, BBHOF never responded). I spoke to two old-time BBall historians from Mass (Mr. Bacon and Mr. Meyer) who were very gracious and helpful but who hadn't seen such a pic themselves.
This may or may not be a New York Americans jersey but in the "could be" column is the team initials on the front, the American flag motiff which would be consistent with the team monicker and the patriotic time period in which the team was formed (1943-44), the approximate age and materials used in construction of the jersey, and the labelling from a NY based sporting goods company of the day.
Please let me know if you have any leads on a photo.
Thanks.

Re: Vintage Basketball Question
You might want to check with Grey Flannel Auctions. They have a partnership with the BBHOF. They may be willing to help contact someone at the HOF who can help you.

Re: Vintage Basketball Question
Just and FYI
The New York Americans was the original team name to what is now known as THE BROOKLYN NETS!!!
Here is a very cool article posted about them a few years ago

Still haven't been able to track any photos down of the NY Americans of 1940's ABL.
Here's some team history I've dug up during my research:

Re: Vintage Basketball Question
I don't have any NYA photos for you, but if you decide to sell the jersey, please email me at gameusedequip2@hotmail.com. Good luck with your search.
Always looking for top NBA game worn items of superstar and Hall-of-Fame-caliber players (especially Kobe, LeBron, MJ, Curry and Durant). Also looking for game worn items of all players from special events (e.g., All Star Game, NBA Finals, milestone games, etc.). Please contact me at gameusedequip2@hotmail.com. Thank you.

Re: Vintage Basketball Question
A new year, an old search, and a new email address.
Please let me know if you can help with my quest to find a photo of NY Americans of 1943-44 ABL.
Thanks! John
