I'm not sure if they can access David Ortiz LVS records. I once owned a black LVS M9 076 from the 2004 season that I traded away. I know that he used a black M9 in 2004, not sure in 2005. I sent some pics of the M9 Ortiz bat and a photo of Ortiz from a game in 2004 breaking what looks to be a maple M9, hope this helps.
Great info. Mine is the same bat but it doesn't have the M9 on it. It's the TPX maple 076. So it's probably from 2004-not 2005? Anbody else with info about any of this-please let me know. Thanks.

Does the centerbrand look like the Vlad maple bat pictured below.
I think LVS came out with this centerbrand label in late 2003 and early 2004, then LVS switch to the sticker M9 logo. If you look at the Ortiz photo it has the same type of centerbrand.
I thought the M9 logo came out in 2005? Could be wrong. But, I got a Kent bat from 2004 M110 no M9, but his 2005 M110 has one. Yea, my bat looks like the one in the photo. I've included scans.
The M9 logo came out in 2004, I have some 2004 M9 Manny Ramirez Red Sox bats, the 2 black M9 bats and one of the wine colored M9 were obtained during the 2004 season. I was able to verify thru factory records that both wine colored bats were ordered in 2004.
I've done a ton of photo searching and I've found many photos of Ortiz using the that solid black bat, but none with the M9 noticeable. Most have the select maple but no M9. Another characteristic on those LS black bats is a unique tape job that runs from the knob to about 9 inches up the bat. The tape almost appears orangish because of all the pine tar on it. Most the pictures I found had that. I noticed the bat you posted had no tape or pinetar that I could see. I've included some more photos that I've found. Let me know what you think.
