Spandex
Did NFL jerseys in the late 1980s up to 1990 have spandex sides? I wasn't sure. Thanks George

I should clarify. Did any AFC jerseys have spandex side panels in their jerseys. I didn't think ey started that until 1992, but I wasn't sure. Thanks, George

Spandex side panels have been around for a long time. I have old Cowboys durene jerseys from the late 1960s and early '70s with spandex side panels although that was unique for that era. Spandex became more prevalent in the 1980s, especially with linemen.
As for the AFC, attached are several photos of late 1980s jerseys with spandex side panels. I have no idea which AFC team first employed spandex side panels or the year.
