    BMH-Dale Murphy project...

    Mr. Hillerich,

I have ideas of starting a new project. I would like to obtain one bat of each model that Murph used throughout his career. I know he used B310 (and cupped) and K55 most of the time, but could you possibly share other orders for different bats he used throughout his career?

    Thanks so much!

Here is a partial list from his early minor league days (1973) through mid-1981, by labeling period

    1973-75: O16, M110, S2, K55, R133, P72

    1976: P72, U1C, K48, M110, K75

    1977-79: U1C, B310, U1, B310C

    1980- 6/12/1981: B310C, K75

Good Luck on your project...Many years ago I tried the same project with Willie McCovey..I had about 6 different non-contract models (name in block letters), then in the mid- 1990's I got Mac's personal H & B records and found that he had used 24 different models throughout his career. That ended that particular project for me.

      Holy Cow!!!

I was thinking a couple of different models besides the K55, B310, B310C, and S2...

At least I will always have items to look for!

      Thanks for sharing!!!

Mr. Murphy was in our factory this past week. A very nice guy.

          Mr. Hillerich,

Murph told us about that! Said he met the guy -- Danny I believe -- who made his bats twenty-plus years ago!

I have had the opportunity to meet Murph a bunch of times, and you are right, very VERY nice guy!!!

My wife and I are planning a trip to the LVS factory and museum in July. I am a school teacher so the summers are best for road trips.

          Looking forward to the visit!
