Found these two "Romine" locker room plate from 2011 season - Austin Romine's rookie season with the Yankees.




There were NO other Romine in the Yankees roster that I can research for..

#26 was assigned to Eduardo Nunez for 2011 season

#71 was actually assigned to Austin Romine for 2011 season.


Both of these plates were MLB authenticated at the end of 2011 Season.




Here is my assumption of these two (I would love to hear your opinion):

1. A "26" for Romine was a MISTAKE.

2. #26" was assigned to Romine when Nunez was in the minor league - but they were both in the roster when Romine was called up during late September. After realized the mistake, the Yankees reassigned "71" to Romine and "26" to Nunez.



And here is the "which is one is better question"...


My money is on the "mistake" Romine - #26, but Romine's collectors might want his matching "rookie" number - #71
