Does anyone bought from smcomstore
Does anyone on this forum have any experience with eBay seller smcomstore?
I had an interesting exchange with them on eBay when I questioned them about this item:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Royals-at-Re...item4d0ac87325
The problem I have with their $605 price is that they I feel like they are preying on people who may not know how or where to look for game used items.
Take a look at this link:
http://www.steinersports.com/royals-...-mlb-auth.html
It's the same base. Is this practice common and am I wrong to think that this practice is shady?

Re: Does anyone bought from smcomstore
You bring up a good point. Personally, I don't think there's anything shady about their auction, unless they are selling fake merchandise. We don't know how much THEY paid for the item, and they are free to ask as much or as little as they like.
If their prices aren't competitive, they'll wind up holding on to that base for a loooong time. I know most of us here have sold items at a loss, and many of us have been pleasantly surprised at how much we got for other items.
The market will decide, but I agree that their asking price is on the high side.

Re: Does anyone bought from smcomstore
I don't think it is shady. Since they also have the "Make an offer" button, anyone would be crazy to buy it now. They are essentially saying they will take less (obviously you do not know how much less). For the few items I've sold on ebay, I do the same thing. If you HAVE to have it at my over priced buy it now price, take it. But I always offer the Make an offer option to begin the negotiations!

Re: Does anyone bought from smcomstore
They are probably the worst priced autograph/game used "dealer". Sky high redicolous prices and terible descriptions. Whoever is running the account is a clown, it's a joke, I don't see how they make a dime, unless they are under Steiner and it's just a front.

I think it is the same base though. It's 3rd base from the same game and date. I do realize that bases are switched out during a game but the pictures look the same.
I found several items that they have listed on eBay that Steiner has on their website. So I don't believe they currently "own" the item.

bgold...
Steiner has theirs listed at $375 so I don't think it's a front for them. Unless they're really trying to capitalize...

Re: Does anyone bought from smcomstore
I believe their company or parent company purchased Mounted Memories a few months back. There was an item I was interested from MM last summer and was going back and fourth with a MM representative that I had pleasant deals with in the past. At the time he said the lowest offer they could accept is $250. I only wanted to go up to $225, so we left it at that. Then in February I decided that I could do $250 for the item and contacted the same representative who informed me that Mounted Memories was purchased and the new owners would accept nothing under $500 for the same item! The player hadn't pitched in the majors in over 7 years! Insane prices, I'd avoid if at all possible.

Re: Does anyone bought from smcomstore
I've purchased from them before but the items were autographed baseballs that started at $9.99 on Ebay. I would NEVER pay the asking prices on any of their "buy it now" items. Completely absurd pricing structure! I loathe when they list a bunch of stuff on Ebay because I have to scroll through all of it to get to the properly priced items.
