    Dave,

My best guess would be 1982, though it is possible it is from as early as 1980.

Actually, I narrowed it down to probably 1980 itself, as that was the last season Richard pitched in The Show.

I said before that it could be 80 or could be 82 but I didn't go into much detail.

1980 was the first year that the Astros wore jerseys like these, and it was his last season with the Astros... which makes 80 a likely candidate.
He attempted a comeback late in 1981, and ultimately was placed on the 40-man roster in September but didn't get into a game (hence, the jersey couldn't be from 1981, as he was out of baseball at that time). He then pitched for the Astros in 1982 Spring Training (making 82 plausible too). after spending '82 in AAA, he once again made the 40-man roster late in 82 (but similar to 81, he never got into a game). He then pitched a few games for the Astros of the Gulf Coast League in 1983, but it is not clear if he made it to Astros ST in 1983 (nor would I know if the Astros wore St. Patrick's Day jerseys in 1983).

It is my understanding that the first year the Astros wore the St. Patrick's Day jersey there was not a number on the back. It just said Happy St. Patrick's Day on the back.
