Yes, it was pulled after a variety of complaints apparently. It may have involved some from the Mantle family not being pleased with how it was described, legacy being tarnished, etc. It was smart to just remove it.

Did someone get a screen capture? Was this the Mantle corked bat? If it was indeed used by Mantle why shouldn't we know the truth?

Without a direct photo match how will you ever know the truth? In his lifetime did Mantle ever mention anything to anyone about a crocked bat? He liked to tell stories and was always seemingly candid about his life. Anyone can cork a bat after the fact, and mantle is not here to defend himself.

i think Mantle never has ever mentioned corked bats to anyone. i dont think any player would until i read joe morgan's admission of using a corked bat for batting practice drills and accidentally used it for one official at bat. he mentioned this during sammy sosa's controversial corked bat incident.

like you said, everything is speculation after knowing its a Mantle model bat. we dont know when it was corked or when or who used it.

Mantle was very candid with the press and even if he did mention to the press back then there is no way any writer who wanted to keep his job would associate "corked bat" and Mantle in print.

Supposedly a Twins clubhouse guy corked it for him, but the Twins claimed they never heard of him.

Ray Crump was the clubhouse man. He was well known there but his book written in the 90s, does not indicate he corked Mantle's bat: http://www.sportscollectorsdaily.com...ng-to-auction/
