Need some help with a San Diego Chargers 1990's Helmet

Hey Guys,
I normally don't collect Game Used helmets. I could really use some help to identify this Helmet I have an opportunity of purchasing. It is an early 1990's San Diego Chargers Helmet. Possibly used by #44 Martin Bayless (from my research). The owner doesn't know much about it as it came in a box with some other Game used gear he purchased. I would like to know if the helmet looks right. Some of the internal padding looks bright white while others look properly aged. He did say that he found an additional face mask in the box. So it is possible this is not the original mask that is on it. Do all the parts look correct for the time period? Numbers? Does it look tampered with or put together from various parts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Everything looks fine to me. I own several Chargers helmets from the same period and this one looks much the same. In your last photo, it looks like the middle section of the rear bumper was cut out and then the bumper tucked into the helmet. One of my helmets has this same feature, which I photo matched to the player wearing it.

FWIW Eric Castle, Eric Pegram, and Fred McCrary all wore #44 for the Chargers in the 90s as well.

Any way to tell what year this is in order to determine which player? If it is one of the players mentioned in the previous reply by another member. What is a fair price to pay for it?

I think we need a bit better photo - it looks like there is a plastic rivet/screw (for pad attachment) toward the back of Eric Castle's helmet (near the back part of the bolt decal). I just can't tell 100% from that photo if that mark is a rivet, a scratch or just glare on the helmet and I can't see if there is another rivet/screw underneath the one I think I'm seeing on the back of the helmet.

I believe the helmet you have is a VSR-1 with inflated padding in the back and therefore no plastic rivets/screws on the back part of the helmet. If Castle's helmet has the rivets/screws on the back part of the helmet then it would be a WD-1 or an AF-2 (depending on the crown padding).
