2007 game used Packers Jersey w/o patch?

I recently picked up number of Green Bay Packers player jerseys directly from the Packers. I have no doubt whatsoever they are legit and 100% player issued and/or game used jerseys. I do have some questions I am trying to get my head around though.

A few of the jerseys I got are from 2007, and one in particular is a home game jersey (not a practice jersey) and it shows clear signs of repairs and damage. Question is it doesn't have the 50th Anniversary Lambeau Field patch that apparently all home game jerseys displayed in 2007. This leads to me think a few things. Either the jersey was used very early in the season or before they wore the patches (pre season maybe?), the patch was removed after the game for some reason or at some point down the road (doesn't seem to show signs of stitch removal though), or the player opted out of wearing it for whatever reason.

Can any Packer jersey experts here share their thoughts with me on this one?

If your jerseys are tagged 2007, they could have been worn the following season or seasons. Just my thoughts!

That's an interesting idea I hadn't thought of. I wonder if anyone knows for sure if there are examples of players wearing a previous years jersey in a later year.

Another suggestion I have to look into is that in 2007 the Packers may have not worn the patch in the playoffs suggesting a legit game worn home jersey worn in 2007 may have been game used from the playoffs. An interesting possibility!

It is common for certain NFL teams to use a jersey from the previous season. I own a 2005 tagged jersey worn in 2008. Plus i own several game worn jerseys that where worn a year after the tag dates like a 2007 worn in 2008.

If you are buying directly from the team i would not worry. Patch was probably removed and jersey was used in 2008. What i would do would be to check photos from the 2008 season of that player and see if you can match up some of the repairs/damage.

Previously I had one jersey total, a verified photo matched Packers home jersey for 42 Morgan Brunett from the Vikings game in 2011. Purchased direct from Packers and came with Packers COA making it a stunning piece.

I just picked up 17 more Packer player jerseys in one large purchase all from the team direct. Various years from 2001 do 2010 and most with game repairs and damage, some extensive, and many with a lot of player customizations. Some big names like Finley, Woodson, Williams, Crosby, Raji, and many others.

Anyway I'd be happy to post pics of this jersey in question and see where things go! I will try and post pics tomorrow.

Just wanted to follow up on some things I've learned since my post yesterday.

For starters it appears the Packers did where the 50th Anniversary patch on their home uniforms pre-season. Guess that rules that one out. Secondly, it also appears they wore the patch in the playoff games, or at least the few players I've been able to see in watching video of their playoff game against the Seahawks.

I've been closing studying the three Packer home jerseys I have from 2007 that didn't have the patch, and one I've found CLEARLY has stitch removal marks where the patch was. Bingo, a 2007 player jersey with light use and clear signs of a 50th anniversary patch gives it pretty clear indication it is a game used jersey! Another may have stitch removal marks but I need to study it closer, while the third appears to be spotless in the left shoulder area where the patch would be though it has clear use and team repairs. Leaning heavily towards assuming it was used sometime after the 2007 season but still need to figure that one out.
