Vintage Louisville Slugger Mini-Bats Circa 1930s-40s

Does anyone know much about this type of bat? I'm assuming that the old mini-bats featuring star and semi-star players were sold at stadiums back then. The photo below shows how these kinds of bats look (notice they all feature star players). However, I have also seen similar bats that feature the names of obscure major leaguers, and even minor leaguers who never made it to the bigs at all. I'm wondering if perhaps the players themselves would order a few to give to friends and family.

I have a bat like this on the way as part of a larger purchase (the player was an obscure minor leaguer).

It is also interesting to see that most mini-bats from then were designated a "40" model, but some were given the famous "125", as seen on the Dizzy Dean bat in the photo.

Kudos to those who love the vintage.
